It's the last day of the year and another segment of Road to Reflection, a section where I pen my thoughts and lessons from experiences as an everyday believer. If this is your first time on Bud and Blossom, feel free to check for older posts here.
2022 was tougher than I expected. At the beginning of this year (or maybe from late 2021), I had received a promise from God but also a warning as to the next phase of our walk - a wilderness phase that was (and is still) going to be an intense walk of faith.
Looking back, I affirm that I did not grasp the words I received from Him at that time. With no clue of what 2022 was going to be nor what God wanted to do in my life, I had to learn to believe Him and hope for His best.
As the days progressed and events unfolded, the Lord impressed deeply in me the need to fully trust Him - to totally abandon my ideas, become more aware of the things that occupied my heart, and to further surrender my will.
This year was filled with many moments of intense pressure and weakness, sorrow and sadness. Yet, in a personal way, the Lord God showed me His everlasting love and the responsible and intentional nature of true Fatherhood (a revelation He is still giving me). In all, God used the highs and the lows of 2022 to work out His eternal purpose in my life.
2023 begins in less than 12 hours and some of us currently exist in a web of anxiety and worry for what lies ahead. To you, the Lord has a word.
Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
In all thy ways acknowledge him, and He shall direct thy paths.
Proverbs 3:5-6, KJV
I encourage you to take your inner fears and expectations to the Throne of Grace. Pour it at His feet and hold nothing back. Remember that the Christian walk is first a relationship with a person, and not a mere routine or ritual. Thus, be assured that Jesus Christ wants to hear you tell Him all about you. Moreso, He desires that you to acknowledge Him in every circumstance that will happen in this new year. He wants you to lean on Him completely and not on your logic or human strength. He wants you to trust Him in faith, according to His Word.
Let the Triune God hold your hand and walk you into 2023. Let Him hold your hand not just for the first few days of the new month, but for all 365 days.
Happy New Year, Dear Reader. Bud and Blossom always.
