Where It Began.

Before I started Bud & Blossom, God had begun to impress upon my heart the need for me to abandon my dreams of being a poet in a secular way and use the gift of writing for Him. It was a precursor to the major shift in my life choices; there were WordPress and Wattpad accounts with some poems and flash fiction I had written when I had not known the Lord personally, and it was His will that I left it all when He restored me to Himself.

In August 2021, I started this newsletter, with a purpose to help those who do not know Jesus find Him, to teach and edify fellow brothers and sisters in the faith and to remind us of the need to stay in Christ, until He comes back again.

Why Bud and Blossom?

Flowers are fascinating. We see them and marvel at their beauty, scents and color. When they are on a tree or shrub in their luscious array, we can tell that the fruits of that plant are near and ready to come forth.

Nonetheless, no one sees the internal process that goes on before that flower appears. We know not the work that goes on in the soil, nor the chemical reactions that occur when the water and sunlight interact with the air necessary for the plant’s growth. Nobody knows the precise time it shoots from the ground; instead we observe the stages of development from the external till the plant becomes fully developed with mature fruits and flowers.

This growth process also applies to us as we walk with God progressively. He is the perfect farmer who sees and knows the internal work that goes on in us. He plants a seed of His Word in our heart and nourishes it so that it can sprout. As we submit to God’s Spirit and die inwardly, what has been sown grows and thrives in us steadily, with God pruning and weeding out impurities, till we are fully formed in Christ. We are His flowers; starting out as buds and maturing to the very blossoms He desires us to be.

He shall cause them that come of Jacob to take root: Israel shall blossom and bud, and fill the face of the world with fruit. - Isaiah 27:6, KJV.
